Invocation

Call to Worship

The law of God is a gift to us!  It is holy and life-giving.

God’s word is trustworthy and true.  It guides our path and makes us wise.

God’s commands illumine the truth and give us a clear perspective.

They  protect, reward and warn us.  They are righteous and lead us to righteous living.

God’s law calls upon us to worship the Lord;

To give our loyalty to God and to God alone.

Fellow believers in Christ, we have not reached the goal yet, so let us press on together.

May we come to the saving knowledge of Christ and the resurrection that waits for us all.

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Romans 11: 33 – 12: 2

Prayer of Confession

Merciful Savior, your word provides illumination for our lives.  Your word guides us and convicts us when we have strayed from your path.

Gracious God, we confess that we fall short of all that we could be.

SILENT MEDITATION

Forgive us we pray.

Grant us your wisdom that we might see you in all things.  May we might walk in a manner worthy of your sacrifice and your claim upon us.  Amen.

Welcome & Announcements

Songs                 #  We Three Kings of Orient Are (insert)

Invocation

Call to Worship

Jesus was called from his home in Nazareth to be baptized as

Messiah and fulfill his ministry.

God calls us, here and now, to continue Christ’s ministry and claim his purpose and promise.

God calls us to be bathed in the Spirit and made new in Jesus Christ.

Let us worship God with joy and anticipation.

                                                Based on Luke 3:15-17, 21-22

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Isaiah 43: 1-7

Prayer of Confession

Jesus stands ready to heal and forgive us,

all we need do, is ask in faith.  Let us pray:

Dear Lord, over two thousand years ago the Magi followed the star, seeking the one who was sent to heal our ills, yet our fear was that the Word made Flesh would overthrow our structures of power and deceit.

Today we still cling to what we imagine is power and strength.  Melt our hardened hearts that we might instead join with those who still seek Jesus.

SILENT MEDITATION

Let your star shine in our lives so that we all might find you.

So that the manner of our living is a testimony of your Holy Spirit in all we say and do.  These things we pray in your name.  Amen.

Words of Assurance

God’s mercy has no limit.  Thanks be to God!

In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

Thought for the Day

Recognizing the presence of the holy, encourages and strengthens

us.  We transition from celebrating the Incarnation, to seeing God’s

glory in the fulfillment of Christ’s earthly ministry.

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Prayer of Confession

Jesus stands ready to heal and forgive us; all we need do,

is ask in faith.  Let us pray:

Loving God, we recognize you as the one who says, “Let light shine out of darkness.”  We know there are areas of darkness in our own lives and in situations in the world around us.

Shine your light into our hearts.  Help us to walk in the light of your grace and goodness.  Have your Spirit lead and guide us to faithful living.  Lord hear our prayer.

SILENT REFLECTION

Lord hear our prayer.

Forgive us when we wander from your way.  Bring us back to the light of your love.  Remind us, God, that we can reflect this light in our every word and action when we seek your will and purpose in our lives.  We know this through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Postlude

This morning our city is blanketed by one of God’s most beautiful wonders, a covering of snow. While you and I try to decide whether or not to venture out, some of our members are basking in the Florida sun. Hey Brakvills and Brights, how is it down there???

News! My cousin, who has earned his living in and around computers, has set up a web site for our church. It is in the preliminary stages, but we have plans to have devotionals, worship messages, directions to the church and much more as it becomes more developed.

Thank you Michael, for getting us in this century.

For those who ‘surf the net’ you can find your church at the site shown above

Mark your calendars:

  • every Wednesday 6:30pm – pot luck, hummm good! fellowship too
  • Sun. 2/1 Souper Bowl of Caring bring cans of soup and extra $$ to be given to MEAC
  • Sun 2/8 Annual meeting followed by light lunch in McCord Hall
  • Sun 2/15 St. Luke to visit with us at our location, lunch to follow the worship service. This has become quite a spirit-filled service, so bring a friend, meet a new one, and enjoy good food!!

Did you know?

Your church facility is being used by many different groups of people, every day of the week, a few:

MEAC, of course we know about the impact we have had on the community since we invited this group to make their home in our building. When they first moved in they were serving about 1000 families a year. Last year they helped over 4000 families!

AA This group has been meeting in our building for over 30 years. If you or someone you know would like to join them, they meet Saturdays at 8:30pm in McCord Hall.

Girl Scouts meet every other Friday at 6:30, in McCord Hall

Model makers of boats and planes meet monthly on Sundays and Thursdays.

And we have opened our doors to other groups who have asked for a place to hold a function.

We are truly blessed by God to have the ability to maintain this grand place of worship and gathering!

Call Tanay at the church if you have news or have a need for special prayer.
