Invocation
Call to Worship
We are here together, as one, to worship!
We are sisters and brothers, daughters and sons, in the family of God.
Let us lift our voices as one voice.
Let us worship, not as separate beings, but as one body, the body of Christ.
Let us rejoice that he has given us each other, and celebrate the gift of living as one church.
May we be unified in our words and songs and prayers.
Come together now, as one, to worship!
Thanksgiving Prayer
Children’s Time
Prayer of Confession
Gracious God, we confess that we ought to recognize you as the Lord of Life.
But we want you on our terms, in a manner that is comfortable and cozy. We want to take or leave you, as we choose, when we choose.
But you will have none of it.
SILENT MEDITATION
Lord, we know that you will have us on your terms, not our terms.
We surrender. We will enter into the life eternal that you are granting. We pray in the name of Jesus our Savior. Amen.

Invocation
Call to Worship
We gather to worship God who alone can heal us and make us whole.
Open our hearts that you may transform our lives with your healing touch.
We gather to worship God who alone speaks the words that calls forth life.
Open our minds that you may transform us with your authoritative Word.
We gather to worship God in spirit and truth.
Open our spirits that you may transform us by your powerful Spirit.
Thanksgiving Prayer
Prayer of Confession
Mark 1: 21 – 28
Holy One, you established your realm anew on earth in the advent of Jesus. By your authority vested in him and his obedience to your purpose, the power of evil was over, sin and death were defeated.
Yet we live as though this were not so, as though human power were supreme, as though we could save ourselves.
SILENT MEDITATION
Lord, we confess the fears that grip us, and the credence we give to false prophets and worldly wisdom.
As members of this society, we are both the oppressed and the oppressors, and greatly in need of your deliverance. Forgive our sin and set us free from all that would hold us in bondage. We pray in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Invocation
Call to Worship
A voice is raised, a call is heard,
When God is praised in song and word.
Through centuries was forged this chain.
This moment seize. This treasure gain.
This call we hear to praise the Lord.
No chain we fear, nor threat of sword,
Delays our cause. We come, though awed,
One Christ, one cross, one Lord, one God.
Prayer of Thanksgiving
1 Timothy 6: 6-19
Prayer of Confession
Gracious God. Out of sight, out of mind. We pretend there are no problems, by hiding them. We bury them on the back pages of the newspaper, while elevating the trite and the trivial.
We focus on trivial annoyances, instead of staring life and death in the face. The world is offered salvation and chooses celebrity. We assent to injustice through our silence. God hear our confession.
SILENT MEDITATION
Lord, confront us with our sins of neglect. May your fire burn away our illusions.
We pledge as individuals and a community of faith, to be your witnessing people. Thank you for your forgiveness. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Songs # 1 Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty
Invocation
Call to Worship
When we stop and consider you, O Lord, our hearts are stirred and our minds become like jelly.
O Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
When we consider the heights and depths and grandeur of your creation, we are in awe and we worship you.
When we ponder our place, as humanity, in the midst of your creation, we are humbled.
We are creatures of such great glory, and yet we are also capable of causing tremendous pain and destruction.
Help us find our true place in your created order, following the way of Jesus.
Let us be agents of change and agents of redemption, of your work in this world. How majestic is your name in all the earth!
Prayer of Thanksgiving
Prayer of Confession
Confession of Faith.
Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God in Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand; and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God. And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.

Call to Worship
I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up,
And did not let my foes rejoice over me.
O Lord my God, I cried to you for help,
And you have healed me.
Sing praises to the Lord, O you his faithful ones,
And give thanks to his holy name.
For his anger is but for a moment; his favor is for a lifetime.
Weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes with the morning.
Hear, O Lord, and be gracious to me!
O Lord, be my helper!
from Psalm 30
Prayer of Thanksgiving
Prayer of Confession
Jesus stands ready to heal and forgive, all we need do is ask in faith.
Let us pray:
Gracious God, you asked Peter a question, “Do you love me?” We hear you ask us that same question.
We want to do what is good and right, but we so often stumble and fall.
SILENT MEDITATION
We worry about everything, when we should trust you.
We know that you created us in your image, but we are impatient with ourselves. Touch us with your grace, Dear God. Forgive us we pray.
Words of Assurance
God’s mercy has no limit. Thanks be to God!
In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

January News From The Pews of Eastminster Church
January 27, 2009
This morning our city is blanketed by one of God’s most beautiful wonders, a covering of snow. While you and I try to decide whether or not to venture out, some of our members are basking in the Florida sun. Hey Brakvills and Brights, how is it down there???
News! My cousin, who has earned his living in and around computers, has set up a web site for our church. It is in the preliminary stages, but we have plans to have devotionals, worship messages, directions to the church and much more as it becomes more developed.
Thank you Michael, for getting us in this century.
For those who ‘surf the net’ you can find your church at the site shown above
Mark your calendars:
- every Wednesday 6:30pm – pot luck, hummm good! fellowship too
- Sun. 2/1 Souper Bowl of Caring bring cans of soup and extra $$ to be given to MEAC
- Sun 2/8 Annual meeting followed by light lunch in McCord Hall
- Sun 2/15 St. Luke to visit with us at our location, lunch to follow the worship service. This has become quite a spirit-filled service, so bring a friend, meet a new one, and enjoy good food!!
Did you know?
Your church facility is being used by many different groups of people, every day of the week, a few:
MEAC, of course we know about the impact we have had on the community since we invited this group to make their home in our building. When they first moved in they were serving about 1000 families a year. Last year they helped over 4000 families!
AA This group has been meeting in our building for over 30 years. If you or someone you know would like to join them, they meet Saturdays at 8:30pm in McCord Hall.
Girl Scouts meet every other Friday at 6:30, in McCord Hall
Model makers of boats and planes meet monthly on Sundays and Thursdays.
And we have opened our doors to other groups who have asked for a place to hold a function.
We are truly blessed by God to have the ability to maintain this grand place of worship and gathering!
Call Tanay at the church if you have news or have a need for special prayer.

May God Bless and Keep You,
